VITAMIN E
Studies show vitamin E lowers cholesterol, prevents buildup of artery-clogging plaque, boosts immunity, cleanses the body of pollutants and prevents cataracts. There’s lots of vitamin E in almond, peanuts and pecans, but it’s hard to get enough of this nutrient form your diet. Fortunately, supplements are safe in doses much higher than the 10-milligram RDA. Biochemist Max Horwitt, Ph.D., of the St. Louis University School of Medicine, takes 269 milligrams daily and considers that amount safe.
